Rhonda Allison Skin Smoothing Gel is an active alpha-hydroxy acid complex formulated to address the two most common texture concerns: cellular buildup and uneven surface roughness. This serum-format gel works at the skin's surface to encourage regular cell turnover, leaving skin noticeably smoother and clearer with consistent use.
Same Formula as AHA Refine GelKey Benefits
Accelerates Cell Turnover Glycolic acid, one of the smallest AHA molecules available, penetrates efficiently to loosen the bonds holding dead skin cells together, accelerating their shedding so fresher skin can surface faster.
Smooths Rough, Uneven Texture L-lactic acid works alongside glycolic acid to soften thickened, rough skin, making it particularly effective for photo-aged skin and areas with coarser texture.
Supports Skin Clarity and Tone Glucosamine HCl and sodium glucuronate help support the skin's structural matrix, improving overall evenness and aiding in the appearance of scarring over time.
Hydrates While It Exfoliates Glycerin, sorbitol, and mannitol provide humectant support throughout the exfoliation process, helping skin retain moisture even as the AHAs work to resurface it.
Neutralizes Free Radical Damage Phenyl t-Butylnitrone, a spin trap antioxidant, captures free radicals before they can contribute to further oxidative damage, keeping the exfoliation process from becoming a net stressor to the skin.

If your skin feels rough, looks dull, or has a thickened texture from years of sun exposure or congestion, the Rhonda Allison Skin Smoothing Gel is built for you. It is especially well-suited for skin types that tend toward oiliness, enlarged pores, or surface congestion, where regular exfoliation makes a visible difference in clarity and smoothness.
This gel is also a strong choice for those managing the long-term appearance of acne scarring or photo-aged skin. Because the formula uses a refined, acne-safe carrageenan, those with acne-prone skin can use it without concern about pore-clogging ingredients.
If you are new to alpha-hydroxy acids or have more sensitive skin, start at the lower end of the usage frequency and build tolerance gradually. Those already comfortable with AHA exfoliants will find this a focused, effective addition to a PM routine.
-
For an extra resurfacing boost, apply the Skin Smoothing Gel to areas of concentrated roughness or scarring, such as the cheeks or chin, rather than the full face. This lets you increase intensity exactly where you need it without over-exfoliating more sensitive zones like the center of the face.
-
Frequency: Use in the PM only, 1 to 3 times per week. Begin with once per week and increase as your skin builds tolerance.
Prepare: Apply to clean, dry skin only. Ensure all cleansing is complete before applying.
Apply: Smooth a thin, even layer over the face, avoiding the eye area.
Follow: Layer a moisturizer on top to support the skin barrier while the AHAs work overnight.
Protect: Apply a broad-spectrum SPF every morning while using this product. AHAs increase photosensitivity.

What does the Rhonda Allison Skin Smoothing Gel actually do for the skin?
The Rhonda Allison Skin Smoothing Gel uses a combination of glycolic acid and L-lactic acid to break down the bonds between dead skin cells, encouraging them to shed more efficiently. Over time, this reduces rough texture, softens the look of scarring, and improves overall skin clarity. It is a targeted exfoliation treatment, not a general moisturizer or toner.
How is the Rhonda Allison Skin Smoothing Gel different from a regular exfoliating toner?
The Rhonda Allison Skin Smoothing Gel is a concentrated AHA complex in a gel format, which delivers a higher level of active exfoliation than a typical toner. It also includes glucosamine HCl, sodium glucuronate, and spin trap antioxidant technology, which support the skin beyond surface exfoliation. A toner is typically a preparatory step; this is an active treatment step.
Which skin concerns is the Rhonda Allison Skin Smoothing Gel best suited for?
This gel is most effective for rough or thickened texture, dullness from cellular buildup, photo-aged skin, and the appearance of acne scarring. It is particularly well-matched for oily and combination skin types where congestion and uneven surface texture are ongoing concerns.
Is the Rhonda Allison Skin Smoothing Gel safe for acne-prone skin?
Yes. The formula includes Chondrus Crispus (carrageenan), which has been properly refined to be acne-safe, so you do not need to worry about it contributing to clogged pores. Glycolic and lactic acids are both well-established exfoliants used in acne-focused skincare for their ability to clear surface buildup and improve skin clarity.
Will the Rhonda Allison Skin Smoothing Gel cause irritation or peeling?
Some dryness and flaking is a normal response as the AHAs accelerate cell turnover, especially in the first few weeks of use. Starting with one application per week and building gradually helps minimize irritation. Layering a moisturizer on top immediately after application also helps keep the skin barrier supported throughout the process.
Can the Rhonda Allison Skin Smoothing Gel be used in the morning?
No, this product is recommended for PM use only. Alpha-hydroxy acids increase the skin's sensitivity to UV exposure, so applying them at night reduces that risk. Wearing a broad-spectrum SPF every morning is essential while using this product consistently.
What makes the Phenyl t-Butylnitrone in the Rhonda Allison Skin Smoothing Gel worth noting?
Phenyl t-Butylnitrone, also known as a spin trap antioxidant, works by capturing and neutralizing free radicals before they can cause oxidative stress in the skin. Including it in an exfoliation product is intentional: the resurfacing process can temporarily increase skin reactivity, and having an antioxidant present helps buffer that response and protect the skin during treatment.

So far, so good!
I just started trying this treatment after reading reviews. So far I use it just once a week. I love the silky texture and it does appear to smooth my skin and pores. I am continuing to take it slow and use it weekly because I don't want to experience too much peeling.
