The SOS C2S Balancing Serum is a corrective serum that combines two forms of vitamin C with salicylic acid to address breakouts, uneven tone, and early signs of aging in one step. It is formulated for enhanced ingredient delivery so each active can reach the skin layers where it does its best work. This serum has a light fragrance.
Key Benefits
Brighter, more even tone Ascorbic acid and ascorbyl palmitate work together to fade dark spots, post-acne marks, and blotchiness by targeting excess melanin at the source.
Clearer skin with fewer breakouts Salicylic acid penetrates pores to dissolve oil and dead cell buildup, reducing active blemishes and the congestion that causes new ones to form.
Visibly smoother, firmer skin Both vitamin C forms stimulate collagen production, which helps soften fine lines, including the vertical lines that tend to form around the mouth, and improve skin firmness over time.
Daily antioxidant defense The combination of ascorbic acid and tocopheryl acetate neutralizes free radicals from UV exposure and environmental aggressors before they can break down collagen.
Balanced oil production and reduced pores Salicylic acid regulates sebum at the follicle level, which visibly minimizes pore size and keeps skin calmer and less prone to congestion.
-
If your skin is dealing with active breakouts, post-acne dark spots, enlarged pores, or uneven tone all at once, this serum is built for that overlap. It works especially well for oily and acne-prone skin types that also want to address signs of aging or discoloration without using multiple targeted treatments.
It is also a strong fit for anyone dealing with stubborn post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, the dark marks left behind after a pimple heals. The combination of salicylic acid and dual vitamin C addresses both the cause and the aftermath of breakouts in a single serum.
Because it is formulated for all skin types, it can also work for normal to combination skin that wants to refine texture, reduce excess oiliness, and maintain a more balanced, even complexion over time.
-
This serum is especially effective on stubborn hyperpigmentation and post-inflammatory dark marks left behind by acne. It is also one of our go-to recommendations for softening those fine vertical lines that form around the mouth, where collagen support and consistent exfoliation make a noticeable difference over time.

Prep: Apply to clean, dry skin.
Apply: Dispense a few drops and smooth over the entire face, avoiding the eye area. It can also be used as a targeted spot treatment on areas of concern.
Layer: Allow the serum to fully absorb before applying additional serums or moisturizer.
Protect: Follow with a broad-spectrum SPF every morning, as vitamin C and salicylic acid can increase sun sensitivity.

What makes the SOS C2S Balancing Serum different from a standard vitamin C serum?
Most vitamin C serums rely on a single form of ascorbic acid. The SOS C2S Balancing Serum uses two forms, ascorbic acid and ascorbyl palmitate, which differ in solubility and stability and allow the formula to work across different layers of the skin. The addition of salicylic acid also means the serum addresses breakouts, oil control, and pore clarity at the same time as it brightens and firms.
What is the difference between ascorbic acid and ascorbyl palmitate in the SOS C2S Balancing Serum?
Ascorbic acid is the water-soluble, direct form of vitamin C and is well-documented for its ability to brighten skin tone and support collagen synthesis. Ascorbyl palmitate is a fat-soluble vitamin C ester that offers antioxidant protection and enhanced stability. Together they complement each other and extend where vitamin C activity can reach in the skin.
Is the SOS C2S Balancing Serum safe for sensitive or reactive skin?
The serum contains both ascorbic acid and salicylic acid, which are active exfoliating and brightening ingredients that can cause initial sensitivity in some skin types. If your skin is reactive, it is a good idea to start with a few nights per week and increase frequency as your skin adjusts. If you are unsure whether this serum is right for your skin, a free skincare consultation with one of our licensed estheticians can help you determine the best approach.
Can the SOS C2S Balancing Serum be used to treat post-acne dark spots?
Yes, this is one of its strongest applications. Salicylic acid keeps pores clear and reduces the inflammation that leads to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, while the dual vitamin C complex works to fade existing dark marks by interrupting excess melanin production. Consistent daily use typically yields the most visible improvement in tone and clarity.
How does the SOS C2S Balancing Serum help with fine lines?
Both forms of vitamin C in this serum support collagen synthesis, which helps skin maintain its structure and resilience over time. This makes it effective for softening the appearance of fine lines, particularly the vertical lines that develop around the mouth where collagen loss tends to show early. Salicylic acid adds a secondary benefit by refining surface texture through gentle exfoliation.
How should the SOS C2S Balancing Serum be layered into a skincare routine?
Apply the serum to clean, dry skin after cleansing and any water-based toning steps. Allow it to fully absorb before layering a moisturizer on top. In the morning, always follow with a broad-spectrum SPF, as both vitamin C and salicylic acid can make skin more sensitive to UV exposure. Do not layer it with other exfoliating acids in the same routine without guidance.
Does the SOS C2S Balancing Serum help with oily skin and enlarged pores?
Yes. Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, which means it can penetrate into the pore lining to dissolve the excess sebum and debris that stretch pores and trigger breakouts. With consistent use, it helps regulate oil production and visibly reduces pore appearance. This makes the serum a practical daily option for oily and combination skin types that are prone to congestion.

My Experience
This product makes a noticeable difference in my skin care routine which is why it's become an essential. I've had less breakouts, my hyperpigmentation has consistently faded. Old scarring is not 100% gone but there's a noticeable difference. I also think adding this played a role in reducing some of my oiliness.
How I Use
I use at night only. Just a few drops after cleaning > toning. I follow up with moisturizer and suncreen after my morning cleanse.
Scent
There is a citrusy scent but it's not overpowering or irritating and it eventually fades.
Feel
I have not experienced any tingling or burning sensations when applying.
