BiON Antibacterial Cleanser
BiON Antibacterial Cleanser is a low-pH acne cleanser formulated for normal, combination, and oily skin types that need consistent bacterial control without stripping moisture. It earned the title of Best Acne Cleanser from Dermascope Magazine, voted on by licensed estheticians, which tells you something about how it performs in a professional setting. The lemongrass herb oil gives it a light, herbal scent that feels clean without being overpowering.
Key Benefits
Bacterial control without dryness Salicylic acid at 0.5% works inside the pore to dissolve excess oil and debris, keeping acne-causing bacteria from taking hold without leaving skin feeling tight or stripped.
Targets acne at the source Cinnamon bark extract inhibits 5-alpha reductase, the enzyme that drives sebaceous gland activity and fuels bacterial acne, addressing a root cause that most cleansers overlook.
Supports a healthy skin environment A pH of 3.6 keeps the skin's acid mantle intact after cleansing, so the barrier stays balanced and the actives you apply next absorb more effectively.
Gentle surfactant system that doesn't over-cleanse Sodium lauroyl oat amino acids and cocamidopropyl betaine lift impurities without compromising the skin's surface, making thorough cleansing possible twice daily.
Doubles as a body wash for chest and back acne The same bacterial-control benefits apply below the neck, making this a practical option for those managing body acne alongside facial breakouts.
If your skin tends to run oily, breaks out regularly, or both, BiON Antibacterial Cleanser was built around your skin type. It works well for teenage and adult acne alike, and because it does not contain benzoyl peroxide, it is a strong option for anyone who has found that ingredient too harsh or too messy to work with long-term.
This cleanser is also a good fit for anyone dealing with chest or back acne who wants a single, effective wash they can use from face to body. If your skin is sensitive or you have rosacea, a gentler formula like BiON Bacteriostat Cleanser would be a better starting point.
A small percentage of people are sensitive to cinnamon and may notice mild redness or irritation when first using this cleanser. If that happens, discontinue use and reach out to our team. We can help you find an alternative that keeps acne under control without the reaction.
Frequency: Use morning and evening as your first cleansing step.
Prepare: Start with dry skin rather than wet, which allows the salicylic acid more direct contact before water is introduced.
Apply: Massage the cleanser into dry skin for about one minute to give the actives time to work.
Technique: Dampen fingers and lather with water, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Follow with your toner, serums, and moisturizer. Apply SPF as the last step in your morning routine before heading outside.
- Salicylic Acid: A beta-hydroxy acid that refines texture, clears congested pores, and helps control oil production.
Deionized Water, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Sodium Lauroyl Oat Amino Acids, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, PEG-150 Distearate, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Salicylic Acid, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf Extract, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Bark Extract, Cymbopogon Flexuosus (Lemongrass) Herb Oil, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl glycol, Ethylhexylglycerine, Hexylene Glycol
Does BiON Antibacterial Cleanser contain benzoyl peroxide?
No, BiON Antibacterial Cleanser does not contain benzoyl peroxide. It controls acne-causing bacteria through a combination of 0.5% salicylic acid and cinnamon bark extract, which inhibits the enzyme that drives bacterial acne in the sebaceous glands. This makes it a solid option for those who want effective acne control without the bleaching or drying effects that benzoyl peroxide can cause.
What does the salicylic acid in BiON Antibacterial Cleanser actually do?
Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, meaning it can penetrate inside the pore to break down the mix of sebum and debris that leads to clogged pores and breakouts. At 0.5%, the concentration in BiON Antibacterial Cleanser is effective for regular use without causing the dryness or peeling associated with higher percentages. It also helps keep the skin surface exfoliated so that other products applied afterward absorb more easily.
What role does cinnamon bark extract play in BiON Antibacterial Cleanser?
Cinnamon bark extract inhibits 5-alpha reductase, an enzyme that stimulates the sebaceous glands and promotes the conditions that allow acne-causing bacteria to thrive. By targeting this pathway, the extract helps reduce bacterial activity at a root level rather than just at the skin surface. This is a key reason BiON Antibacterial Cleanser goes beyond standard cleansing to address why breakouts keep forming.
Can BiON Antibacterial Cleanser be used on the body?
Yes, BiON Antibacterial Cleanser works well as a body wash for areas like the back and chest where acne is common. The same salicylic acid and cinnamon bark extract that control facial breakouts apply to body acne as well. Using one product for both face and body also simplifies your routine.
Why does BiON Antibacterial Cleanser have a pH of 3.6?
Healthy skin has a naturally acidic pH, and cleansing with a low-pH formula helps preserve that environment rather than disrupting it. A pH of 3.6 also keeps salicylic acid in its active form, so it can actually do its job in the short time it is on the skin. Many cleansers have a much higher pH, which can temporarily impair the skin barrier and reduce how well subsequent products perform.
Is BiON Antibacterial Cleanser safe for daily use?
Yes, BiON Antibacterial Cleanser is formulated for twice-daily use. The surfactant system, which includes sodium lauroyl oat amino acids and cocamidopropyl betaine, is gentle enough to cleanse thoroughly without stripping the skin with repeated use. Glycerin also helps maintain moisture balance throughout the cleansing process.
Who should avoid BiON Antibacterial Cleanser?
Those with sensitive skin or rosacea may find this formula too active and would likely do better with a gentler option. A small percentage of people are also sensitive to cinnamon and may experience mild redness or irritation from the cinnamon bark extract. If either of these applies to you, reach out to our team for a personalized recommendation or book a free skincare consultation.

Best facial cleanser you'll ever have
This is my favorite face cleanser ever. Once I found it, I never went back to anything else. It's got a refreshing scent and makes your skin feel soooo clean. I have oily skin and large pores, but the results after using this cleanser were fast and mighty. My pores shrunk immensely and it balances and controlled my oil secretion.

Nice product
So far so good. I still get hormonal breakouts and acne from a tretinoin “purge.” But they seem to be subsiding faster with the addition of this cleanser and another cleanser with glycolic acid (which I use only at night when not using the tret). My skin also seems a lot softer.
