Dr. esthé Anti-Mela Toning Serum is a brightening serum built around Melazero, a patented brightening agent that targets existing discoloration while blocking the signals that trigger new pigmentation from forming. It pairs that core technology with a concentrated lineup of tone-evening and hydrating actives to address uneven skin tone, dullness, and rough texture at the same time.
Key Benefits
Targets existing pigmentation and prevents new discoloration Melazero works alongside tranexamic acid and kojic acid to interrupt melanin production at multiple stages, so existing dark spots fade and new ones are less likely to form.
Evens skin tone with layered vitamin C Ascorbic acid and sodium ascorbyl phosphate deliver antioxidant protection and brightening support from two complementary forms of vitamin C, helping to visibly reduce the appearance of uneven tone over time.
Calms redness and supports clarity Niacinamide, licorice root extract, and peony root extract work together to reduce redness and quiet the inflammation that often drives discoloration, making this a strong option for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Deeply hydrates without disrupting skin barrier Gluconolactone, a polyhydroxy acid, draws moisture into the skin while gently refining texture, and polyquaternium-51 forms a breathable film that locks hydration in and improves the way subsequent products absorb.
Delivers antioxidant protection Tocopherol and glutathione work at the surface and cellular level to neutralize free radicals and reduce oxidative stress, both of which accelerate pigmentation and visible skin aging.
This serum is a strong fit if you are dealing with hyperpigmentation, post-inflammatory dark spots, sun damage, or uneven skin tone that has not responded well to single-ingredient approaches. Because it addresses melanin production through multiple pathways at once, it works well for people who have tried tranexamic acid or niacinamide on their own and want a more comprehensive treatment.
It is also a thoughtful choice for skin that is recovering from professional treatments. The formula is well-suited for use after laser, chemical peels, or microneedling, where the skin needs brightening support without additional irritation. Sensitive skin types can use this serum comfortably, and those dealing with dry or tight skin will benefit from the hydrating actives built into the formula.
If your skin is recovering from a laser treatment or chemical peel, this is one of the best times to introduce this serum. The formula's combination of brightening actives and barrier-supporting hydrators makes it effective at fading post-treatment discoloration while keeping sensitized skin comfortable during recovery.
Prepare: Cleanse and tone before applying.
Apply: Dispense 3 to 5 drops into clean palms or directly onto the face, neck, and chest.
Technique: Press gently into skin rather than rubbing. Layer a moisturizer on top to seal in the actives.
Frequency: Use morning and evening. Always follow with broad-spectrum SPF in your morning routine.

What makes Dr. esthé Anti-Mela Toning Serum different from other brightening serums?
Most brightening serums rely on a single active like tranexamic acid or niacinamide. Dr. esthé Anti-Mela Toning Serum takes a multi-pathway approach, combining Melazero, tranexamic acid, kojic acid, two forms of vitamin C, niacinamide, and licorice root extract to interrupt melanin production at several stages. This layered strategy is especially useful for stubborn pigmentation that has not responded to simpler formulas.
What is Melazero and how does it work in Dr. esthé Anti-Mela Toning Serum?
Melazero is a patented brightening agent that works on two fronts: it helps break up existing pigment deposits in the skin and inhibits melanogenesis, which is the biological process that creates new pigmentation. Because it is built into the formula alongside tranexamic acid, kojic acid, and vitamin C, the brightening effect is reinforced from multiple angles rather than relying on Melazero alone.
Is Dr. esthé Anti-Mela Toning Serum safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. The formula was designed with sensitive skin in mind and is regularly used as a post-treatment serum after laser procedures and chemical peels, both of which leave skin in a highly sensitized state. Gluconolactone, a gentle polyhydroxy acid, and polyquaternium-51 help maintain the skin barrier while the brightening actives do their work. If your skin is especially reactive, start by using it once daily and build up from there.
Can Dr. esthé Anti-Mela Toning Serum be used after a laser treatment or chemical peel?
Yes, and it is particularly well-suited for post-procedure skin. Laser and peel treatments can trigger post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation during recovery, and this serum's combination of brightening and hydrating actives addresses both concerns. Always follow your provider's guidance on when to reintroduce active ingredients after a professional treatment.
How do the two forms of vitamin C in Dr. esthé Anti-Mela Toning Serum compare?
The formula contains ascorbic acid, the direct active form of vitamin C known for strong antioxidant and brightening activity, alongside sodium ascorbyl phosphate, a stabilized derivative that converts to ascorbic acid in the skin and is better tolerated by sensitive skin types. Using both forms together extends the brightening benefit while keeping the formula stable and gentle.
Does Dr. esthé Anti-Mela Toning Serum contain fragrance?
The formula does contain fragrance, as well as spearmint extract, which contributes a light, fresh scent. If you have a fragrance sensitivity, we recommend patch testing before applying to your full face. You can also reach out to our team of licensed estheticians through a free skincare consultation to find the best option for your skin.
When in my routine should I use Dr. esthé Anti-Mela Toning Serum?
Apply 3 to 5 drops after cleansing and toning, before your moisturizer, both morning and evening. In the morning, always follow with a broad-spectrum SPF, since brightening actives like vitamin C and kojic acid work best when the skin is protected from UV exposure that would continue to trigger pigmentation.

Like the line and this serum falls into line with the rest
It has an oily texture which I actually like. It feels a little heavy to layer things over, but I do anyway and like the results. I also like how it measures out the amount needed. I only use it in the night and its lasted quite a while. I’ve noticed a difference, but am using it in addition to other Dr. Esthe Anti Mela products.
Took away my hyperpigmentation
Takes some time, but it really does lighten dark spots. Love it for the back of my hands and neck
I just started using this serum, and I love the glow that it imparts to the skin.
