GlyMed Plus Accelerator Gel with 20% AHA is a lightweight gel serum that puts 20% alpha hydroxy acids to work on rough texture, uneven tone, fine lines, and congested pores, while simultaneously priming skin to absorb whatever you layer on next.
Key Benefits
Resurfaces and renews skin texture A 20% blend of glycolic acid and lactic acid dissolves the bonds holding dead skin cells on the surface, accelerating cell turnover so smoother, clearer skin comes forward faster.
Fades the look of dark spots and uneven tone By speeding up cell renewal, the glycolic and lactic acid combination helps visibly reduce hyperpigmentation and post-breakout marks over time.
Addresses active breakouts and congestion Glycolic acid keeps pores clearer and reduces the buildup that leads to breakouts, making this a practical option for skin dealing with moderate acne alongside other concerns.
Boosts the effectiveness of your other serums By clearing away the layer of dead skin, this gel allows serums and treatments applied before or after to penetrate more effectively and work harder.
Calms while it exfoliates Aloe vera, chamomile, sage, and green tea deliver antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory support, so the exfoliation process is balanced rather than harsh.
If your skin is dealing with rough texture, dullness, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, or recurring breakouts, and you feel like your other products are not quite delivering, this serum addresses both concerns at once. The 20% AHA concentration is suited to skin that has moved past beginner exfoliation and is ready for a more effective dose of glycolic and lactic acid.
This is also an excellent option for anyone who gets regular chemical peels or professional treatments. Used consistently before appointments, it primes the skin and helps extend results afterward.
If your skin is currently compromised, sensitized, or new to AHA exfoliants, start slowly and give your skin time to adjust before increasing frequency.
If you see your esthetician for chemical peels or other professional treatments, incorporate this gel into your routine in the weeks leading up to your appointment. Consistent use beforehand helps prime the skin so the treatment can work more evenly and effectively, and continuing to use it afterward helps maintain and extend your results.
Frequency: Begin with 2 to 3 times per week. Gradually increase use as your skin adjusts.
Apply: After cleansing, apply a thin, even layer of the gel to the face and neck, avoiding the eye area.
Layer: Follow with your preferred serums and moisturizer. This gel is designed to be used before or alongside other treatments to enhance their absorption.
Sun protection: Always follow with a broad-spectrum SPF during morning use. AHA exfoliants increase sun sensitivity.
Aqua (Water), Butylene Glycol, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract, Polysorbate 20, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Extract, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Flower Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate), Hydroxyethylcellulose, Tetrasodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hydroxide
What makes GlyMed Plus Accelerator Gel with 20% AHA different from a standard exfoliating serum?
Most AHA serums are formulated purely to exfoliate. GlyMed Plus Accelerator Gel with 20% AHA is specifically designed to also accelerate the absorption and effectiveness of other serums and treatments applied to the skin. The combination of glycolic acid and lactic acid clears the surface so that everything you layer on top can penetrate more efficiently.
What skin concerns does GlyMed Plus Accelerator Gel with 20% AHA address?
This gel targets rough texture, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, uneven tone, and moderate acne. The 20% blend of glycolic acid and lactic acid drives those results by increasing cell turnover, while aloe, chamomile, green tea, and sage help calm and protect the skin during the exfoliation process.
What is the difference between glycolic acid and lactic acid in GlyMed Plus Accelerator Gel with 20% AHA?
Glycolic acid has the smallest molecular size of any AHA, which allows it to penetrate deeply and work efficiently on texture, pores, and surface pigmentation. Lactic acid has a slightly larger molecule and a gentler action that also draws moisture into the skin. Using both together gives you thorough exfoliation with a more balanced feel than glycolic acid alone.
How do I layer GlyMed Plus Accelerator Gel with 20% AHA with other serums?
Apply the gel after cleansing and before your other serums. By clearing away the surface layer of dead skin first, it allows the active ingredients in your other products to absorb more effectively. Follow with your serums, then a moisturizer, and SPF in the morning.
Is GlyMed Plus Accelerator Gel with 20% AHA suitable for sensitive skin?
The 20% AHA concentration is a meaningful dose and may be too intense for skin that is new to exfoliating acids or currently sensitized. If your skin tolerates lower-percentage AHAs well, you can introduce this gel gradually by starting at 2 to 3 times per week and building from there. Not sure if it is the right fit for your skin? A free skincare consultation with one of our estheticians can help you assess.
Can I use GlyMed Plus Accelerator Gel with 20% AHA to prepare for a chemical peel?
Yes, this is one of the strongest uses for this gel. Using it consistently in the weeks before a chemical peel or professional procedure helps prime the skin surface so the treatment can penetrate more evenly. It can also be used after treatments to help maintain and extend results over time.
Does GlyMed Plus Accelerator Gel with 20% AHA increase sun sensitivity?
Yes. Alpha hydroxy acids like glycolic acid and lactic acid exfoliate the outermost layer of skin, which temporarily increases UV sensitivity. It is important to apply a broad-spectrum SPF every morning when using this gel, regardless of whether you apply it in the morning or evening.

I depend on my AHA accelerator ever since I was introduced to it 5 years ago- I alternate to every other night (as I use the retinol pads on the other nights). It will tingle a little, but I wait for the product to dry fully (around a 1-2 mins after applying) and follow by a moisturizer at night. My skin looks like glass the following morning, and I love it.
I have only used this a few times so I can't speak to its efficacy in meeting what it advertises. I will say that it burns my skin a bit when I first apply it. I expected that of course with it contianing higher levels of AHAs. I haven't seen any major skin improvements, which is expected with it being so soon. It does leave a sticky feeling on the face.
