GlyMed Plus Brilliant Tone is a corrective brightening serum built to address the most persistent forms of hyperpigmentation, including melasma, sun damage, dark spots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Where lighter brightening products fall short, this serum delivers through a concentrated stack of tyrosinase-inhibiting ingredients that work at the source of excess melanin production. It is fragrance-free and formulated for those ready to take a serious, results-focused approach to uneven skin tone.
Key Benefits
Targets melanin overproduction at the source Kojic acid, arbutin, and bearberry extract each inhibit tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for triggering melanin synthesis, making this one of the most comprehensive melanin-blocking formulas available without a prescription.
Calms the inflammation that drives discoloration Niacinamide and licorice root extract (glycyrrhiza glabra) work together to reduce the inflammatory signals that cause skin to overproduce pigment in the first place, especially important for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Delivers two forms of vitamin C for visible brightening Both l-ascorbic acid and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate are present, giving the formula both immediate antioxidant activity and a more stable, sustained brightening effect on existing discoloration.
Resurfaces to accelerate pigment clearance Lactic acid gently exfoliates the surface layer of skin, helping to lift darkened cells and increase the absorption of the brightening actives layered beneath.
Evens tone with additional plant-based brighteners Diacetyl boldine and rumex occidentalis extract round out the formulation with complementary brightening activity, supporting a more uniform complexion over consistent use.
Brilliant Tone is best suited for those dealing with moderate to advanced hyperpigmentation who have not seen adequate results from standard brightening products. If you are managing melasma, long-standing sun damage, or dark spots left behind by acne or skin trauma, this serum is formulated specifically for those concerns.
Because this is GlyMed Plus's strongest brightening serum, it works best for skin that is already acclimated to active ingredients. If you are new to corrective skincare, starting with a milder brightening product first will help your skin build tolerance before introducing this level of potency.
This serum is an evening treatment and is not appropriate for daytime use. It is well-suited for all skin tones, particularly those more prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and works across skin types including oily, combination, and normal skin.
If you are new to this serum, start with every other night and give your skin two to three weeks to adjust before increasing frequency. Consistency matters more than intensity here: steady, nightly use over time will deliver more visible results than pushing too hard too fast.
Prepare: Cleanse and tone skin thoroughly before application.
Apply: Dispense 1 pump and apply evenly to the face, neck, and chest.
Frequency: Use in the evening only. Begin with every other night and increase to nightly as tolerated.
Follow: Layer your moisturizer over the serum. In the morning, apply a broad-spectrum SPF as the final step in your routine.

What types of hyperpigmentation does GlyMed Plus Brilliant Tone treat?
GlyMed Plus Brilliant Tone is formulated to address moderate to advanced hyperpigmentation, including melasma, photodamage, sun spots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation left behind by acne or skin trauma. Its multi-ingredient approach targets both active melanin production and the inflammation that drives recurring discoloration.
How does GlyMed Plus Brilliant Tone inhibit melanin production?
The serum works by targeting tyrosinase, the enzyme that triggers melanin synthesis in the skin. Kojic acid, arbutin, and bearberry extract (arctostaphylos uva-ursi leaf extract) each inhibit this enzyme through complementary pathways, making the formula more comprehensive than products that rely on a single brightening active.
What role does vitamin C play in GlyMed Plus Brilliant Tone?
The formula contains two forms of vitamin C: l-ascorbic acid, which provides direct antioxidant activity and helps interrupt melanin transfer, and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, a more stable derivative that delivers sustained brightening support. Using both forms allows the serum to cover a broader range of brightening activity within a single step.
Why is GlyMed Plus Brilliant Tone recommended for evening use only?
Several of the actives in this serum, including l-ascorbic acid and lactic acid, can increase photosensitivity if used during the day without adequate sun protection. Applying it in the evening allows the ingredients to work overnight without UV exposure interfering, and ensures the skin is protected when it matters most.
Is GlyMed Plus Brilliant Tone suitable for sensitive skin?
This is GlyMed Plus's most potent brightening serum and is best suited for skin already accustomed to corrective actives. If your skin is sensitive or reactive, it is recommended to start with every other night use and build gradually. Those new to corrective skincare may benefit from starting with a milder brightening option first.
How long does it take to see results with GlyMed Plus Brilliant Tone?
Results vary depending on the severity and type of hyperpigmentation, but most users begin to notice a more even tone within four to six weeks of consistent use. Deeper or long-standing discoloration like melasma may take longer and benefit from pairing with a complementary brightening product in the morning routine.
Does GlyMed Plus Brilliant Tone contain niacinamide, and what does it do in this formula?
Yes, niacinamide is included in the formulation. It helps reduce the inflammatory signals that contribute to excess pigment production, which is especially relevant for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Niacinamide also supports the skin barrier, helping to offset potential sensitivity that can come with consistent use of exfoliating and brightening actives.

Great for uneven tone
I waited to review until I’d been using for at least two months. The product felt nice on my sensitive, acne-prone skin but I have not seen any change to my melasma. I layer with retinol at night and had high hopes but will not purchase again. To be clear, this mag be effective for minor skin discoloration but melasma is so stubborn that I have a hard time finding truly effective treatments.
I've been enjoying this product! I'm a strawberry blonde with lots of freckles and would like a more even tone on my face. I haven't notice major changes yet, but do notice small changes! I don't breakout with this either which is a major plus.
This is 2nd purchase as I felt it worked well after using consistent for 6 weeks. It’s a bit tacky but does help with lightening my stubborn hyperpigmentation. I use Esthe TXA cream on top of it every night. So maybe combo is key. I also use Glymed Diamond serum in morning after esthe TXA serum.
My skin glows after using this.,..
