iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+
iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+ is a broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen that delivers up to 80 minutes of water-resistant UV protection in a sheer, weightless texture that wears nothing like a traditional physical sunscreen. Available in both translucent and tinted formulas, it absorbs quickly, layers seamlessly over your skincare routine, and skips the heavy white cast that keeps so many people from committing to mineral protection. There is no added fragrance in this formula.
Key Benefits
Broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection Titanium dioxide (5.20%) and zinc oxide (1.10%) work together as physical UV filters, sitting on the skin's surface to reflect and scatter both UVA and UVB rays before they can cause damage.
Water-resistant for up to 80 minutes The formula maintains its protective integrity through swimming, sweating, and outdoor activity for up to 80 minutes of water exposure, meeting the FDA's highest water-resistance rating.
Antioxidant support against UV-generated free radicals Tocopherol and tocopheryl acetate (two forms of vitamin E) work together to neutralize free radicals triggered by UV exposure, adding an extra layer of defense beyond the physical filters alone.
A finish that actually wears well A blend of lightweight emollients including caprylic/capric triglyceride and octyldodecyl neopentanoate gives this formula a non-greasy, radiant finish that sits comfortably under makeup or on its own throughout the day.
Light coverage option with iron oxides The tinted version uses iron oxides to add subtle, natural-looking coverage that softens the appearance of redness and uneven tone, particularly flattering on fair to light skin with cool or pink undertones.
If you have sensitive or reactive skin that does not tolerate chemical UV filters well, iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+ gives you full-spectrum mineral protection without the irritation risk. The physical-only formula sits on top of the skin rather than absorbing into it, making it a consistent choice for those dealing with rosacea, post-procedure sensitivity, or skin that tends to flush.
If you lead an active lifestyle or simply perspire throughout the day, the 80-minute water-resistance rating means your protection stays intact longer between reapplications. The translucent version works across a wide range of skin tones and applies clear, while the tinted formula is best suited to fair to light complexions with cool or pink undertones.
This formula also suits anyone who has avoided mineral sunscreens in the past because of texture or finish. It layers under makeup without pilling and wears comfortably on its own, making it a practical daily option whether your morning routine is minimal or multi-step.
The tinted version works beautifully on fair to light skin tones with cool or pinkish undertones, but can pull ashy on medium to deep complexions or warm undertones. If your skin falls into that range, reach for the translucent formula instead for the same protection without any color interference.
Apply: Smooth a generous, even layer over your face and neck as the final step in your morning skincare routine, after serums and moisturizer.
Technique: Apply in sections rather than rubbing in circular motions for the most even, streak-free coverage.
Frequency: Use every morning. Reapply every 2 hours during extended sun exposure, and immediately after swimming or perspiring heavily.
- Zinc Oxide: A natural mineral that provides physical sun protection against UVA and UVB rays, while absorbing oils and offering additional skin-soothing properties.
- Titanium Dioxide: A natural mineral that forms a barrier to provide physical sun protection against UVA and UVB rays.
- Vitamin E (Tocopherol): Soothes, brightens, and helps reverse and protect against environmental damage.
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride: Rich in fatty acids, derived from coconut oil, works as an emollient to soften, moisturize, and replenish the skin.
Active Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide 5.20%, Zinc Oxide 1.10%

What is the difference between the translucent and tinted versions of iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+?
Both versions deliver the same SPF 50+ broad-spectrum protection and 80-minute water resistance. The translucent formula dries clear and works across a wider range of skin tones. The tinted version contains iron oxides that add light coverage, soften the look of redness, and are most flattering on fair to light skin with cool or pink undertones. Neither version changes how the sunscreen performs.
Will iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+ leave a white cast?
This formula uses micronized mineral filters in a lightweight emulsion base that is engineered to apply far sheerer than most physical sunscreens. The translucent version dries clear on most skin tones, though very deep complexions may notice a slight haze. The tinted version eliminates any visible cast but is best matched to lighter skin tones. If you have a medium to deep complexion, the translucent formula is the more versatile choice.
How long does the water resistance last with iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+?
iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+ is water-resistant for up to 80 minutes, which is the highest water-resistance rating recognized by the FDA. After 80 minutes of swimming or heavy perspiration, reapply to maintain protection. Even without water exposure, reapply every 2 hours during extended time outdoors.
Can I wear iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+ under makeup?
Yes. The lightweight, non-greasy finish layers well under foundation, tinted moisturizer, or powder without pilling or creating a slippery base. Give it a minute to set after application before applying makeup. The tinted formula also works well on its own as a light coverage step when a full makeup routine is not the goal.
What makes iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+ a good option for sensitive skin?
iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+ relies entirely on mineral UV filters, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, rather than chemical absorbers that can trigger irritation or sensitization in reactive skin. The formula is fragrance-free and built around a gentle emulsion base with ingredients that support skin comfort rather than disrupt it. It is a practical daily option for skin prone to redness, rosacea, or post-treatment sensitivity.
Do I need a separate moisturizer under iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+?
It depends on your skin. The formula includes emollients like caprylic/capric triglyceride and octyldodecyl neopentanoate that give it a comfortable, non-tight wear, but it is formulated as sun protection first. Normal to oily skin types may find it sufficient on its own, while drier skin types will benefit most from applying a dedicated moisturizer or hydrating serum underneath before reaching for this sunscreen.
How does iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+ differ from chemical sunscreens?
Chemical sunscreens absorb UV energy and convert it to heat inside the skin. iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+ uses physical mineral filters that sit on the surface and reflect UV rays away before they reach the skin. Because there is no absorption involved, protection is active as soon as the formula is applied, and the risk of triggering sensitivity or irritation is significantly lower. The formula is designed to close the gap on texture, offering a finish that feels far lighter than most physical sunscreens.

Omg. The BEST mineral spf I have ever tried. Mineral spf can be chalky and look chalky on the skin, this blends in PERFECTLY. It’s silky, smooth, and probably a buildable coverage the more you apply. The tint for me is perfect too. I have a neutral/fair skin tone but tan in the sun. It’s not too dark/orange and very natural looking. Love. I won’t need to try any other spf.
