iS Clinical Retinol+ Emulsion 1.0%
iS Clinical Retinol+ Emulsion 1.0% is a high-potency retinol treatment from iS Clinical that delivers professional-grade anti-aging results through encapsulated delivery and a bioactive supporting cast. The formula carries a light, subtle fragrance. At its core, 1.0% encapsulated retinol works alongside Extremozyme® technology, a proprietary enzyme complex that repairs DNA damage while the retinol accelerates cellular renewal, resulting in visibly smoother, firmer skin with improved tone and texture over time.
Key Benefits
Smooths Fine Lines and Wrinkles Encapsulated retinol releases gradually into the skin, stimulating collagen production and accelerating cell turnover to visibly reduce the depth and appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Evens Tone and Refines Texture Retinol works alongside ascorbic acid and bakuchiol to fade the look of hyperpigmentation, smooth uneven texture, and restore a more consistent complexion across the face, neck, and chest.
Amplifies Retinol Efficacy Rice bran extract, tocopherol (vitamin E), and rosemary leaf extract work together as natural potency enhancers, increasing retinol's effectiveness by more than 30% without increasing the risk of irritation.
Firms and Supports Skin Structure Tripeptide-1 and shea butter help reinforce the skin's structural foundation while retinol drives collagen synthesis, improving density, resilience, and visible firmness over consistent use.
Repairs and Defends Against Environmental Aging Extremozyme® technology targets existing DNA damage caused by UV exposure and pollution, while glutathione and tocopherol neutralize free radicals to slow the progression of future visible aging.
Clinically Proven Results (after 84 days):
- 29% reduction in fine lines and wrinkles
- 19% improvement in skin hydration
- 100% improvement in breakouts (in 18% of subjects who reported subject to breakouts)
- 94% improvement in oil production/large pores (in 64% of subjects who reported history of oily skin/large pores)
- 69% improvement in pigmentation (in 46% of subjects who reported experiencing pigment irregularities)
iS Clinical Retinol+ Emulsion 1.0% is best suited for experienced retinol users who have already built a tolerance to lower concentrations and are ready to address more advanced signs of aging, including deep wrinkles, loss of firmness, uneven skin tone, and sun damage. If you've been using a 0.25% or 0.5% retinol consistently without significant irritation and feel ready to progress, this is a logical and clinically meaningful next step.
This emulsion performs best on normal to dry skin types that can handle active exfoliation. It contains fragrance, so those with highly reactive or sensitized skin should take note. If you have rosacea, eczema, or persistent sensitivity, speaking with a licensed esthetician before incorporating this concentration is a smart starting point.
If you're newer to retinoids, this is not the right entry point. Starting at a lower strength allows your skin to acclimate and reduces the likelihood of irritation, so building up gradually will serve your long-term results better than jumping straight to 1.0%.
If your skin is adjusting to this concentration, try applying iS Clinical Retinol+ Emulsion 1.0% over your moisturizer for the first several uses rather than directly on bare skin. This buffering technique slows the rate of absorption slightly, which can reduce initial dryness or flaking while still allowing your skin to acclimate to the retinol at a more comfortable pace.
Prepare: Cleanse and tone your skin in the evening, then wait until skin is completely dry before applying.
Apply: Dispense 2 to 3 pumps and smooth evenly over the face, neck, and chest. Follow with your preferred moisturizer to support hydration.
Frequency: Begin by using every 2 to 3 days for the first week, then take a full week off. Resume this cycle and gradually increase frequency as your skin builds tolerance.
Technique: Avoid layering with AHAs, BHAs, or ascorbic acid in the same routine unless directed by a skincare professional. Some initial redness, dryness, or peeling is normal and typically settles within a few weeks. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every morning while using this product.
- Retinol (1.0%): A derivative of vitamin A that provides exfoliation and stimulates collagen production, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Shea Butter: Softens, seals in moisture, and helps protect against environmental damage.
- Bakuchiol: A plant-based retinol alternative that promotes a vibrant, refined, taut, and renewed complexion.
- Rice Bran Extract: Clarifies the skin with nourishing, hydrating, and brightening benefits.
- Rosemary Extract/Oil: A powerful antioxidant that provides anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial benefits with a clarifying boost.
- Vitamin E (Tocopherol): Soothes, brightens, and helps reverse and protect against environmental damage.
- Ectoin: Works to provide a protective shield for the skin and is a natural moisture binder, improving the health of the skin barrier and protecting against transepidermal water loss.
- Colloidal Gold: Formed by suspending small gold particles in liquid so it is biologically usable by the body. Calms inflammation, increases elasticity, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Copper Tripeptide-1: Contains three amino acids (glycine, histidine, and lysine) combined with the mineral copper. Supports healing and regeneration, boosts collagen synthesis, and delivers beneficial epigenetic messages to cells.
- Poria Cocos Extract: A mushroom extract well-known for its ability to reduce the appearance of aging skin, boost collagen synthesis, and reduce inflammation.

What makes iS Clinical Retinol+ Emulsion 1.0% different from other retinol products?
Most retinol products rely on standard, unboosted retinol delivery. iS Clinical Retinol+ Emulsion 1.0% uses encapsulated retinol wrapped in bio-identical lipids for gradual, time-released penetration that reduces irritation without sacrificing efficacy. The formula also incorporates Extremozyme® technology for DNA repair and a trio of rice bran extract, tocopherol, and rosemary leaf extract that increases retinol potency by more than 30%, making this a meaningfully more advanced option than most over-the-counter retinol treatments.
Is iS Clinical Retinol+ Emulsion 1.0% appropriate for someone new to retinol?
This is a high-potency formula intended for those who have already built tolerance through lower retinol concentrations. If you're just beginning your retinoid journey, starting at 1.0% is likely to cause significant irritation before your skin has a chance to adjust. We'd recommend scheduling a free skincare consultation so one of our estheticians can help identify the right starting strength for your skin.
How long does it take to see results from iS Clinical Retinol+ Emulsion 1.0%?
Smoother texture is often one of the first improvements users notice, typically within two to four weeks. More significant changes, like reduced fine lines, improved firmness, and a more even tone, generally become visible after eight to twelve weeks of consistent use. Retinol works by accelerating cell turnover and stimulating collagen production, so results build progressively rather than appearing overnight.
Can iS Clinical Retinol+ Emulsion 1.0% be used during the day?
No, this emulsion is an evening-only treatment. Retinol degrades when exposed to UV light and increases the skin's sensitivity to sun damage, so daytime use is not recommended. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every morning while incorporating this product into your routine, and continue SPF use for at least one week after stopping.
What should I do if iS Clinical Retinol+ Emulsion 1.0% causes redness or peeling?
Some initial redness, dryness, or peeling is a normal part of the skin's adjustment period and typically resolves within two to four weeks. Reduce your application frequency to every three to four days and try applying the emulsion over a layer of moisturizer to buffer the absorption rate. If irritation persists or feels significant, pause use and reach out to a licensed esthetician for guidance.
Can I combine iS Clinical Retinol+ Emulsion 1.0% with other actives in my routine?
In the same evening routine, it's best to avoid layering this emulsion with AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, or ascorbic acid unless a skincare professional has specifically advised it, as combining these actives can push irritation beyond what the skin can comfortably manage. Hydrating ingredients like sodium hyaluronate, panthenol, and peptides pair well with this formula. If you're unsure how to integrate it into your existing routine, a free skincare consultation with one of our estheticians can help.
What is Extremozyme® technology and why is it included in iS Clinical Retinol+ Emulsion 1.0%?
Extremozyme® is iS Clinical's proprietary enzyme complex derived from microorganisms that survive in extreme environmental conditions, such as intense UV radiation and temperature extremes. These enzymes are uniquely equipped to repair DNA damage in skin cells caused by sun exposure and environmental pollution. Paired with retinol's cell-renewing action, Extremozyme® adds a layer of protective and corrective function that standard retinol products don't include.

This is my second bottle of this retinol. I don’t use it every day and I only use it this time of year. But I do think it helps my collagen production, it helps with some age spots, and it helps for my skin to turn over. It’s pretty creamy. It doesn’t feel dry to my skin. I use it about three times a week. I definitely recommend it.

I never would guess that this is a Retinol. So smooth and nourishing. Non stinging and no redness. My final step in my evening skincare routine. Performs its magic while I sleep. Waking up to a vibrant complexion.
