Key Benefits
Soothes redness and irritation Licorice root extract contains glabridin, a compound that calms inflammation and reduces the appearance of redness.
Brightens dark spots and hyperpigmentation The natural skin-brightening properties of licorice root help fade post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and even out skin tone over time.
Provides antioxidant protection Licorice root delivers antioxidant support to help protect skin from environmental stressors that contribute to premature aging.
Enhances your existing routine This additive format allows you to customize the level of soothing and brightening support in any serum, moisturizer, or mask.
Ideal for anyone dealing with redness, sensitivity, or uneven skin tone who wants targeted brightening without harsh actives. This additive works especially well for skin experiencing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from breakouts or irritation.
If you're looking for a gentle way to address dark spots while calming reactive skin, or if you want the flexibility to boost your current products with additional soothing and brightening power, this serum offers a customizable approach to addressing both concerns at once.
Layer this under vitamin C or niacinamide serums to enhance brightening results, or mix it directly into a calming moisturizer when your skin needs extra soothing support during flare-ups.
Apply: Use alone after cleansing, or mix 2-3 drops into your serum or moisturizer before application.
Frequency: Use morning and evening. Can be incorporated into your routine daily.
- Licorice Root Extract: Brightening and anti-inflammatory agent that balances skin tone and helps inhibit hyperpigmentation.
- Chamomile Extract: Natural flower extract, with antiseptic and antimicrobial properties, that decreases inflammation, reduces redness, and soothes skin.

Can I use Michele Corley Licorice Root Additive with other active ingredients?
Yes, licorice root is a gentle active that layers well with most ingredients. It pairs particularly well with brightening actives like vitamin C and niacinamide, and with exfoliating acids to help calm any potential irritation. You can mix it directly into products or apply it as a separate layer.
How long does it take to see brightening results with Michele Corley Licorice Root Additive?
Most people notice a more even skin tone and reduction in redness within 4-6 weeks of consistent use. Dark spots and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation may take 8-12 weeks to visibly fade, depending on their depth and your skin's natural cell turnover rate.
Can I use Michele Corley Licorice Root Additive if I have sensitive skin?
Yes, licorice root is known for its gentle, anti-inflammatory properties, making it suitable for sensitive and reactive skin types. It can actually help calm irritation while delivering brightening benefits without the harshness of some other brightening ingredients.
Should I use Michele Corley Licorice Root Additive in the morning, evening, or both?
You can use it morning and evening for maximum benefit. Licorice root provides antioxidant protection during the day and supports skin repair at night, so twice-daily application helps address both redness and hyperpigmentation more effectively.
How much Michele Corley Licorice Root Additive should I use per application?
If using alone, apply 3-5 drops to the face and neck. If mixing with another product, use 2-3 drops blended into your serum or moisturizer. A little goes a long way with this concentrated formula.
Can Michele Corley Licorice Root Additive help with acne scars?
Yes, it can help fade the dark marks left behind by acne, known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. While it won't address textural scarring or pitted scars, the brightening properties of licorice root work well to even out discoloration from old breakouts over time.
Do I need to wear sunscreen when using Michele Corley Licorice Root Additive?
While licorice root itself doesn't increase sun sensitivity, daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is essential when treating hyperpigmentation of any kind. UV exposure can darken existing spots and reverse your brightening progress, so sunscreen is a non-negotiable part of addressing uneven tone.

It’s a good serum with minimal ingredients which I liked, however I don’t think my oily skin really cares for it.

I cannot say how much I love this product. It has helped my skin feel so soft and more even toned. It does not feel greasy or oily at all. It's like water but has more benefits. I love how I can mix this in with my clearderma or any other moisturizer. Does not make my makeup look weird or separate. I use this about twice or three times a week. My skin really loves this, and I hope this product stays on the shelf because it's so good.

New fave
Great addition to my serum collection. Mix it with Hale & Hush Rare Mandelic Serum and Glymed Daily Skin Clarifier...the smell is mild and pleasant. I have noticed my most problematic blemishes gently fading with this combination. More so than before I started using it!

Slippery but soothing
Love Michele Corley--but this serum isn't my favorite as it leaves a very slippery feeling on the skin that doesn't feel well absorbed. It is soothing! I just wouldn't be able to put make-up over it. Maybe it's better for night-time for me.
