Rhonda Allison Derma-Zyme
Rhonda Allison Derma-Zyme is a weekly enzyme gommage that dissolves surface buildup and smooths uneven texture without the irritation of traditional scrubs or acids. Formulated with papaya and pineapple enzymes alongside aloe and hyaluronic acid, it works through both enzymatic action and a gentle gommage technique to deliver real refinement with zero harshness. The formula carries a light, fresh citrus scent from grapefruit and orange oils.
Key Benefits
Dissolves Dead Skin Cells Without Friction Papain, derived from papaya, and pineapple extract enzymatically break down the bonds holding dead cells to the surface so skin releases them without the need for abrasive particles or aggressive acids.
Keeps Skin Hydrated Through Exfoliation Aloe vera leaf extract and hyaluronic acid work together to maintain the skin's moisture balance during treatment, so you get refinement without the tight, stripped feeling that often follows exfoliation.
Supports a More Even, Refreshed Complexion Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E) provide antioxidant support while helping to address dullness, leaving skin looking clearer and more uniform after each use.
Calms and Conditions While It Exfoliates Comfrey extract and echinacea extract deliver soothing, skin-conditioning support during treatment, making this especially well suited to skin that tends toward sensitivity or reactivity.
Preps Skin to Get More From What Comes Next By clearing compacted surface cells, Derma-Zyme improves the skin's ability to absorb serums, treatments, and moisturizers applied afterward, maximizing the results of your full routine.
Derma-Zyme is ideal for anyone who wants smoother, more refined skin without the irritation that often comes with exfoliation. If your skin feels rough, looks dull, or has visible texture you want to address, this gommage offers a gentle but effective solution you can use consistently without compromising your skin's barrier.
This formula is especially well suited to sensitive, dry, or reactive skin types that have struggled to tolerate traditional exfoliants. Because it relies on enzymatic action rather than physical scrubbing or high-strength acids, it clears away buildup without friction or over-exfoliation.
It also works well for normal, combination, and aging skin looking to support healthy cell turnover on a weekly basis. If you've been wanting to incorporate regular exfoliation into your routine without risking redness or dryness, Derma-Zyme is a smart, accessible starting point.
Derma-Zyme is gentle enough to use around the eye area, and it works beautifully on the hands as a once-weekly treatment to smooth texture and keep skin on the backs of the hands looking refined. If you've been hesitant to exfoliate because your skin leans sensitive or dry, this is the format to start with.
Frequency: Use one to three times per week.
Prepare: Start with clean, dry skin.
Apply: Apply a thin, even layer to the face or target area.
Technique: Gently massage the formula into the skin until it begins to liquefy and lightly granulate. Allow it to remain on the skin for five to ten minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cool water using a soft cloth. Pat skin dry and follow with a serum, mask, or moisturizer.
- Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract: Moisturizes, soothes, and softens the skin, while calming inflammation and reducing redness.
- Papaya (Papain): Natural enzymes that promote gentle exfoliation and provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
- Pineapple (Bromelain): Nutrient-rich natural fruit enzyme, increases cell turnover and brightens the skin.
- Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid): A powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties, which helps reduce skin redness, brighten complexion, and even skin tone.
Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Carbomer, Hyaluronic Acid, Papain, Carica Papaya Extract, Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey) Extract, Echinacea Angustifolia Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Extract, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Extract, Glycerin, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbic Acid (L), Cholecalciferol, Sodium PCA, Panthenol, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid
What makes Rhonda Allison Derma-Zyme different from a regular facial scrub?
Derma-Zyme uses enzymatic exfoliation rather than physical abrasion to clear away dead skin cells. Papain and pineapple extract dissolve the protein bonds holding surface cells in place, which means no scratching, no micro-tears, and no irritation from granules. The gommage technique adds a soft mechanical element as the formula granulates during massage, but the real work is done by the enzymes.
What skin types can use Rhonda Allison Derma-Zyme?
Derma-Zyme is formulated to work across most skin types, including sensitive and dry skin that can't tolerate stronger exfoliants. The aloe vera and hyaluronic acid in the formula keep skin comfortable during use, and the enzyme-based action avoids the irritation associated with abrasive scrubs or high-concentration acids. Combination, normal, and aging skin types also benefit from its regular use.
How does papain work in Rhonda Allison Derma-Zyme?
Papain is a proteolytic enzyme derived from papaya that selectively breaks down keratin proteins in dead skin cells without affecting living tissue. This allows it to dissolve surface buildup efficiently while leaving healthy skin intact. Combined with pineapple extract, it delivers thorough enzymatic exfoliation that smooths texture and promotes a clearer-looking complexion.
Can Rhonda Allison Derma-Zyme be used around the eyes?
Yes. Unlike many exfoliating treatments that are too harsh for the delicate skin around the eyes, Derma-Zyme's gentle enzymatic formula is suitable for use in that area. Apply carefully and avoid direct contact with the eyes themselves. The soothing aloe and comfrey extract base makes it one of the more versatile exfoliating treatments available for full-face use.
What does the gommage action in Rhonda Allison Derma-Zyme actually do?
As you massage Derma-Zyme into the skin, the formula softens and then begins to lightly granulate. This shift in texture creates a very gentle rolling or balling effect on the surface, which helps lift loosened dead cells away from the skin without the need for pressure or friction. It's a traditional European exfoliation technique that pairs well with enzymatic formulas to enhance surface clearance without irritation.
Does Rhonda Allison Derma-Zyme contain retinol?
No. Derma-Zyme contains retinyl palmitate, which is a gentler, ester-based form of vitamin A. It is not the same as retinol and functions differently in the skin. Retinyl palmitate is generally considered well tolerated and is included here to support the formula's overall skin-conditioning benefits rather than as a primary active.
How often should I use Rhonda Allison Derma-Zyme, and can I use it on my hands?
For the face, Derma-Zyme can be used one to three times per week depending on your skin's needs and tolerance. It also works well as a once-weekly treatment on the hands to smooth texture and refresh the skin on the backs of the hands. Because the formula is enzyme-based rather than acid-based, it can be incorporated into a regular weekly routine without risk of over-exfoliation for most skin types.

This is my second time purchasing- the first time I got it in the hydro facial kit, and it’s a staple for me now. I use it several mornings a week after washing my face bc it makes my skin feel amazing before my serums, spf, and makeup go on. It doesn’t have a smell to it and it’s super easy to use. It’s a very gentle yet effective way to exfoliate the skin. You can even use it after a mask, then moisturize, go to sleep and wake up looking fresh. It’s one of my favorite products!

I try to use this once a week. It is gentle but effective for my sensitive skin. The dispenser is a little frustrating and could use some improvements. I will definitely buy again and continuing using as part of my routine.

Have been using this since I was 19, have no other words but LOVE. Amazing for sensitive skin. I have eczema and use it 2-3 times a week and l can’t say a negative thing about it. I think it is one of the best exfoliating products out there to date and doesn’t have the harshness of other exfoliating products - that leave sensitive skin girls like me, raw and more dry! 10/10 recommend
