Skin Script Advanced Renewal Serum is a corrective healthy-aging serum built around retinaldehyde, the most potent non-prescription form of vitamin A available. Unlike retinol, which requires two conversion steps in the skin before becoming active, retinaldehyde converts in just one step, delivering faster visible results with significantly less irritation. Paired with niacinamide and a targeted brightening complex, this serum addresses fine lines, uneven tone, hyperpigmentation, and rough texture in a single step. A light botanical blend of magnolia flower oil and bergamot fruit oil gives it a subtle, naturally fresh scent.
Key Benefits
Faster Visible Correction with Less Irritation Retinaldehyde encourages cell turnover more efficiently than standard retinol because it requires only one enzymatic conversion to become retinoic acid, so you see smoother texture and fewer fine lines without the redness and peeling that often come with vitamin A.
Visibly Brighter, More Even Skin Tone Phenylethyl resorcinol, a potent brightening agent, works alongside niacinamide to reduce the appearance of dark spots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and overall dullness.
Calming Hydration for Reactive Skin L-carnitine and bisabolol increase moisture content and calm inflammation, making this serum comfortable even for skin types that typically struggle with retinoid products.
Antioxidant Defense and Skin Nourishment Cloudberry seed oil, cranberry fruit extract, red algae extract, and vitamin E (tocopheryl acetate) deliver a broad spectrum of antioxidants that help neutralize environmental damage and support the skin barrier.
Sustained, Stable Delivery Cyclodextrin encapsulates the retinaldehyde to improve its stability and allow for a more controlled release into the skin, helping maintain efficacy while minimizing sensitivity.
If you want the corrective power of vitamin A for fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, or hyperpigmentation but your skin has not tolerated traditional retinol or prescription retinoids well in the past, this serum was designed with you in mind. Retinaldehyde is the strongest over-the-counter form of vitamin A, yet it is far gentler than many retinol serums, making it a smart choice for sensitive or reactive skin types that still need real anti-aging and brightening results.
This is also a strong fit if you are dealing with congestion, rough texture, or uneven tone and want a multi-corrective approach in one product. All skin types can benefit, though it is especially well suited for anyone stepping up from a gentler retinol or looking for a more tolerable alternative to prescription-strength retinoids.
If your skin is new to retinaldehyde, start by using it every other evening for the first two weeks, then gradually increase to nightly application. This gives your skin time to acclimate and helps you avoid the flaking or tightness that can come from introducing a potent vitamin A too quickly.
Prepare: Cleanse and tone skin. Shake the bottle well before each use.
Apply: Dispense a small amount and smooth over the face, neck, and chest in the evening.
Follow Up: Apply your preferred Skin Script moisturizer to lock in hydration.
Frequency: Use nightly as tolerated. Always apply a broad-spectrum SPF in the morning, as vitamin A increases photosensitivity.

What makes retinaldehyde in Skin Script Advanced Renewal Serum different from retinol?
Retinaldehyde is one step closer to retinoic acid (the active form your skin actually uses) than retinol, which means it converts faster and delivers visible results sooner. It is also clinically recognized as being better tolerated than retinol at comparable efficacy levels, making it a strong option if traditional retinol products have caused irritation for you.
Is Skin Script Advanced Renewal Serum the same product as the Retinaldehyde Serum with IconicA?
Yes. Skin Script Advanced Renewal Serum is the updated name for the product previously known as Retinaldehyde Serum with IconicA. The formulation remains the same, so you can expect the identical results you have come to rely on.
Can I use Skin Script Advanced Renewal Serum if I have sensitive skin?
Yes. This serum was specifically formulated to deliver vitamin A correction with minimal irritation. Bisabolol and L-carnitine provide soothing, anti-inflammatory support, while cyclodextrin helps control the release of retinaldehyde so it does not overwhelm the skin. Starting every other night is still recommended if you know your skin is highly reactive.
Will Skin Script Advanced Renewal Serum help with dark spots and hyperpigmentation?
It is well suited for that concern. Phenylethyl resorcinol is a targeted brightening ingredient that helps reduce the appearance of dark spots and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Niacinamide further supports an even tone by inhibiting melanin transfer to the surface of the skin. Consistent nightly use paired with daytime SPF will deliver the best brightening results.
Can I use Skin Script Advanced Renewal Serum with other active serums in my routine?
Retinaldehyde is a potent active, so keep the rest of your evening routine simple when using this serum. Avoid layering it with other strong actives like AHAs, BHAs, or additional retinoids on the same night. If you are unsure how to build a routine around it, our estheticians can help through a free skincare consultation.
How long does it take to see results from Skin Script Advanced Renewal Serum?
Most people notice improvements in skin texture and smoothness within two to four weeks of consistent nightly use. Brightening and hyperpigmentation improvements typically become more noticeable around the six- to eight-week mark, as this reflects the time needed for new cell turnover to reach the surface.
Does Skin Script Advanced Renewal Serum contain any fragrance or parabens?
The serum does not contain synthetic fragrance or parabens. The subtle scent comes from naturally derived botanical oils including magnolia flower oil, bergamot fruit oil, and grapefruit peel oil that are part of the active formulation.

This is a good every other night retinol serum! I like that it also has Vitamin A & B.
I truly feel like this keeps my face hydrated a glowy. I use it everyday. Love it!
Clean feeling and effective
I have only used this product for a few weeks, so I can't yet say it is making a big difference. The consistency is nice. I pat it on, rather than rub it in, as a one pump size amount does not yield very much and I want to be sure to cover my whole face and neck. (2 pumps, and I would go through the bottle twice as fast!) The color is yellow, which I find a bit off putting, but not a deal breaker! I'm sure it is a very beneficial ingredient that causes the color.
I may order again, or look for another option when I have finished this. I'll wait and see.
Life started skin cycling and so far I love it. This is part of my evening rotation
